Getting started with Aritma Finance Manager
Aritma brings your bank directly into Business Central — so payments, receipts, and reconciliation happen without ever leaving your ERP. This guide walks you through the full setup, from installing the app to connecting your first bank.
Do it yourself, or with your ERP Partner. The setup is designed so you can complete every step on your own. If you'd prefer a guided setup, ask your ERP Partner to run the process with you — they know your Business Central environment and can handle the whole flow on your behalf. Either way, the steps below are the same.
Before you begin
Have the following ready before you start:
- Business Central admin permissions on the target tenant, in the correct country version (Norway, Sweden, Finland or Denmark).
- Company information — a unique registration number for each company you plan to onboard.
- Bank account details in Business Central: BBAN, IBAN, and SWIFT code for every account.
- Primary contact — name, email, and phone number for the person Aritma should send the onboarding welcome email to.
- Technical contact — name, email, and phone number for the person who will configure Entra (for the real-time updates step).
- Bank signatory — for each company, someone with signing authority who can complete BankID verification for the bank.
- License agreement — signed with Aritma. Not strictly required to start, but recommended for a seamless flow.
1) Install the app
In Business Central, open Extension Management and click AppSource Gallery. Search for finance manager, pick the version that matches your country (Norway, Sweden, or Finland), and click Install App.
Once installed, a notice appears in the Role Center inviting you to start the setup wizard: "Finance Manager is now available! Start the setup wizard to connect your bank accounts and automate your payments and receipts."
2) Prepare your data
Two things must be in place before the wizard can run.
Company Information
Every company needs a unique Registration No. The setup wizard will not run without it.
Bank Accounts
For every bank account you plan to onboard, fill in all three fields:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Bank Account Number (BBAN) | Domestic account number. |
| IBAN | International bank account number. |
| SWIFT Code | Bank identifier code. |
Heads up: Bank accounts missing any of these three fields won't appear in the onboarding wizard. If you're onboarding multiple companies, each must have a unique registration number and its own registered bank accounts.
3) Set up Aritma connection
Click Start Setup Wizard from the Role Center notice. (If it's been dismissed, search for finance manager setup, open the page, then click Actions → Finance Manager Setup.)
The wizard sends an onboarding request to Aritma and links it to your Business Central tenant. You'll be asked for:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Organization Name | Prefilled from your Business Central tenant. Change it if you'd prefer a different name. |
| Primary Contact Email | The main contact for this setup. Aritma sends the onboarding welcome email here; this person doesn't need to become the Aritma owner themselves (see Step 4). |
| Technical Contact | Name and email of the person who will configure Entra for real-time payment updates. |
What happens next: If your license agreement is in place, your Aritma connection is created within minutes. Otherwise, Aritma's sales team will contact you to finalize the agreement — the connection must exist before you can connect any bank.
4) Create the Aritma owner
Aritma sends a welcome email to the primary contact you specified in Step 3, with instructions for creating the first user in Aritma.
Whoever creates that first user — the primary contact themselves, or someone else at your company they forward the email to — becomes the owner of your Aritma organization. The owner has admin access and is the person who can invite additional users later.
Primary contact and owner can be the same person, or different people. The primary contact is typically whoever signed the Aritma agreement — often a business or finance leader — and they may forward the welcome email to the person who will actually run Aritma day-to-day. That person then becomes the owner. If one person handles both roles, they simply complete the setup themselves.
Once the owner has activated their account, they can invite additional users through the Aritma application. Aritma users are required to send pre-approved payments from Finance Manager.
5) Connect your bank
For each bank you want to onboard:
- Open the Finance Manager Setup wizard again and select the accounts to connect. Only accounts with complete data from Step 2 will appear in the list.
- When the wizard finishes, you'll receive a link and instructions to send to the signatory.
- The signatory completes BankID verification with the bank to confirm access to the organization and its accounts.
- The signatory also completes a bank-specific guide for setting up the connection on the bank's side. This guide is shown at the end of the onboarding wizard and is also emailed to the primary contact, who can forward it or use it as a reference. Contact Aritma if you need help with any of the bank-side steps.
If the signatory is available while you run the wizard, they can complete verification on the spot. Otherwise, they'll receive the instructions by email after you finish.
Activation at the bank starts once step 4 above is complete. Because that step runs independently of the technical onboarding, starting it as early as possible — in parallel with the other steps in this guide — is the single biggest thing you can do to bring your Aritma go-live forward.
When activation completes, a notification appears in Business Central confirming activation, and Aritma also notifies the customer by email.
Repeat this process for each company–bank combination.
6) Turn on real-time updates
This step is independent of the others — you can set it up before, during, or after onboarding. If it isn't activated, the sync runs once a day.
An Entra ID admin must run this step. In Business Central, search for webhook subscriptions, open the page, and click New Subscription. That single action activates real-time updates for both:
- Bank consent events during onboarding.
- Status updates on outgoing bank transfers.
You'll see two rows in the Webhook Subscriptions list when it's set up correctly, both linked to the Finance Manager Hub user.
7) Access the Aritma web app
Users log in to the Aritma portal at https://aritma.app/. All users must be invited by the Aritma owner, who can also assign roles, adjust access policies, and revoke access.
Aritma also supports Single Sign-On (SSO) for a more seamless flow between Business Central and the Aritma application. To enable SSO, contact Aritma.
Need help?
You can complete the entire setup on your own using the steps above. If you'd prefer a guided setup, your Microsoft partner can run the process with you. For technical questions, licensing, or to enable SSO, contact Aritma directly.
