Create SQL trace

This is a guide for creating an SQL trace. This may be something Aritma Support asks the customer to perform in order to collect more troubleshooting data. Aritma Support will ask the customer to run the SQL trace within a specific timeframe, for example: “run the trace from when you click the button until the window appears.”

This means the customer enables the SQL trace, clicks the button, waits until a window appears, and then stops the SQL trace.

Start SQL trace

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio on your SQL server.

  • In the “Tools” menu at the top of the window, click “SQL Server Profiler”.

  • In the window that appears, log in to the server where the Aritma Pay/Control database is located. Click “Connect”.

  • In the next window, choose a name for the SQL trace. This is only for display purposes.

Click the “Events Selection” tab at the top of the window, then click the “Column Filters…” button in the bottom-right corner. A new window called “Edit Filter” will appear (the window to the right in the screenshot below).

  • Click ApplicationName in the left margin.

  • In the highlighted section on the lower right, click the “+” next to the “Like” text. A text box will appear.

If troubleshooting Aritma Control, enter “BankX%” in the text box. If troubleshooting Aritma Pay, instead enter “ConvertX%”.

  • Click “OK” in the right-hand window, and then click “Run” in the left-hand window.

The trace is now running. You can switch to the Aritma product and perform the action requested by Support.

Stop SQL trace

  1. After completing the requested actions in the Aritma program, return to the Trace window. Click the stop icon in the toolbar at the top.

  • In the top menu bar, click “File”, then “Save As”, and then “Trace File…”.

  • Choose a location to save the file. Send this file to Aritma Support as an attachment to your case.
